Apparently our contract is under review.
Setting: Our supper table. Madeleine has just returned from her third (? or so) time out in her room.
Jason: "Oh, what exactly isn't working?"
Maddie: "You guys are bossing me around. And that doesn't make any sense because it hurts my feelings."
Jason: "But it hurts our feelings when you whine and don't listen"
Maddie: "Daddy, we're not talking about that."

Maddie: (heavy sigh, hands on the table, very serious face) "This is not working for me."
Jason: "Oh, what exactly isn't working?"

Like I said, law degree, possibly even a seat on the bench! How did you possible keep a straight face?
