You know how I feel about baby feet....

Erika and I took the kids to see Toy Story 3 - mostly in an attempt to escape the heat. Maddie had never been to a Real Movie before so it was all quite exciting. It was also Sarah's first movie as well. Kole is a seasoned expert and demonstrated the appropriate Sit and Watch The Whole Movie approach. Madge hasn't quite mastered that yet...She spent the last half of the movie dressing and undressing Sarah.

And Colleen, you expressed some concern about Sarah's "hair". You are not alone. Erika begged me to take a Mr. Clean Eraser to it. I will have to b/c although tattoos are cool on some people, it just doesn't really suit Sarah's 0-3 month style...

And one more thing. I'm recording this here so I never forget: After a few days watching Erika feed baby Elise, Maddie too has mastered this age old feeding approach. Need I say more?

"Mommy, this one has milk, and this one has water."

People are always saying Maddie looks so much like Lisa.

I just don't see it.

Maddie and I drove to Calgary last week. She was a great travel companion. When I got tired of driving, she took a turn. Don't worry, Sarah was secure in the car seat...

Ladies and Gentlemen....here she is,
Our Queen!

When Mom and I went to London we saw a whole exhibit dedicated just to her hats.
But the real question is: what DOES she keep in that purse?

Here's what we've come up with...

- a bit of cash (maybe a $20 for an emergency)
-definitely lipstick
- her licence plate with the crown on it (so when she gets to the next city they can whip it on the Lincoln Town Car)
- an extra pair of hose
- hairspray (her hair does NOT move)
- hat pin?
- likely a Tide Stick to keep those gloves so white

Our ROYAL Visit

Maddie and I flew to Winnipeg this weekend and Grandma B met us there.  We stayed with my mom's good friend, Denise (aka Ms. W to Maddie)  If you haven't heard, Queen Elizabeth was in town for the day.

We started the day with our first glimpse of QEII at the airport.  There was hardly anyone there so we had a really good view of her through her car window as she drove by.  I managed, in my excitement to get a fantastic shot of Denise's purse and a couple of the ground.  Super.

After lunch on our own (didn't receive a royal invite) we went downtown to for another glimpse.  It was all very fancy, with white rope marking things off, big white tents with free lemonade.  Girl Guides handed out delicious cookies (not the regular GG cookies, thank you very much).

And let me tell you, the Queen is nothing if she isn't punctual!  Everything happened exactly when she said it would.  And thank you for that b/c it was so hot we couldn't have handled waiting a minute longer.

We didn't get the best location (although Denise managed to wiggle in quite close, and she has some fantastic shots).  But, as The Queen was driving by (and we were very close to her then) she looked right at Maddie, smiled and waved!  Even Maddie was excited about that.

When the Queen is around she has a special flag.  This guy is getting ready to take the flag down as she leaves.  Maddie spotted him and wondered "Is he her prince?"  Yes, yes he is.

It was so hot and humid.  I can't even begin to describe the heat.  But we still had such a good time.  We went to the forks afterward and instead of sitting outside for the concert we decided to go and have some supper and a cold beer.  The restaurant was empty.  At the last minute we thought we'd opt for the AC rather than the fresh air on the patio.  About 10 minutes later the rain started to pour.  Chucking, really.  Cats and dogs.  And then of course the restaurant was packed.  But we were cool and dry with beer, good food, and good friends!

Although it's been very (VERY) wet around here, there is always a bright side.

True Story:

I cleaned out our bedroom last weekend. There was all kinds of crap piling up. I sorted and organized and ended up with a "keep"and a "toss" pile. So, put everything in the "keep" pile away, but then ran out of time and was distracted by something else. Forgot all about the "toss" pile. But...Maddie didn't. She found one treasure after another.
"oooh, look at this Mommy"
"oh, Daddy, what's this for?"

After about her third or fourth discovery, Jason summed it up by saying:
"well, she IS a Markosky...."
