a very BIG thank you to Grandma Pollock for making the Emergency Traveling Blanket.

Today was Wash Maddie's Blankie Day. Very disturbing day for some. First I made the mistake of having her help me load laundry into the washer, everything was fine until she discovered "neh neh" (more on that later). So we get over the horror of "neh neh" in the washer. Then later, Mother of the Year that I am, we're pulling the wash out of the washer (I forgot about the blanket). Maddie spots a teeny tiny corner of yellow and pulls with delight. Only to discover that I intend to put her precious blanket into the dryer. Again with the trauma. But then I remember that we have a spare little blanket for just such moments out in the car. Problem solved.

And here you have a photo of the two of them reunited at last.

What's in a name? Maddie calls her blanket "neh neh", bedtime is "nigh nigh" and banana is "na na". All of which sound EXACTLY THE SAME. You'd think, oh but you can tell by context. Not true. Jason says that she should be allowed to name her blanket what she wants. And I agree, but seriously, could she just pick a bit of variety? She did say "banana" today so I guess there's hope there.

Standing guard to make sure I don't put anything else in the wash.

And now, if you listen carefully as you scroll down you should be able to hear the sound of angels singing. I put up shelving in the laundry room and bought special matchy matchy bins. And yes, the bins are labeled. You know I love this.

Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh.

a rare sighting of the troll at the bottom of the laundry basket:
urban legend or fact?

Seen here in her natural habitat, the Laundry Troll is foraging for her ultimate treat: mismatched socks.

I don't think you can see it on TV, but Maddie and Jason are watching Star Trek. And Maddie is sitting still - she likes it. Big Sigh.

I think she has a mouth full of Jason's jam and toast. These days nothing is worth eating unless we're eating it too...

Easter

My camera battery was kaput so Auntie Lisa took these pictures and sent them to me - so you have her to thank for this blog update! Grandma and Grandpa Kenco, Great Uncle Bruce, Auntie Lisa, Uncle Jayson, Jackson and Mackenzie all came over for our first family dinner in the Warman house. It was so nice to spend time with everyone and NOT DRIVE ANYWHERE!

I had our Miss Maddie all dolled up, right down to the black Mary Janes. But as Auntie will tell you, Maddie was less than impressed with those shoes and stood in one spot for a long time. Now that I think about it, maybe I should use those shoes more often. Anyway, there's only one picture with both shoes. She clomped around in one shoe for awhile until her Auntie took pity and helped her get rid of the other one.

See, shoe gone.

Ahh, Mackenzie. What a grin!

I don't have any pictures of Jackson, but he did help me get supper ready. Can't remember what he helped me make, but I'm sure it needed "a couple two eggs".

The Frown.

Maddie has learned to scowl. From Mackenzie perhaps? This picture really doesn't do The Frown justice - she just tilts that head forward and scrunches up her eyebrows. It cracks us up every time. And then it cracks her up.

ok, this next series of pictures is for my DEAR cousin, Shelley. Maybe now she'll get off my case? Hmmm?

Presenting...
Maddie's Room (before we paint it - we might be in the "Before"stage for quite awhile so I figured I'd hang pictures and just embrace the white for now)

there's more on the next post.

As promised: more pictures of Maddie's room. Think of it as a self guided tour, if you will.

Happy St. Patrick's Day from our
Lucky Girl to you!

Maddie's sweet St. Patty's day feet. If you don't remember, someone made these just for Maddie before she was born and she was just "Lucky".

Maddie in full green gear. The dress is from the Gang at STA and I feel that Sarah T would approve of my stylish pant/dress combo.

OH NO!

It's true, Maddie is her father's daughter.
And here's the proof, as if there ever was any doubt...

"Seriously Mommy, you gotta try this. It's great."

"Deee-lish!"

a case of the
BABY BLUES...

Maddie has been sick since last Friday and hasn't really been eating much. Until today! She's on the mend. Fresh blueberries have been a big hit with her and today I remembered that I had some in the freezer.
Maybe next time I'll use a spoon...
