good bye, jake

In some ways Maddie is just the same as her Auntie Lisa.

Example 1: Maddie does NOT like having her picture taken. At all. When I asked her why, she said "only on a photo walk". Sound familiar?

So the next two pictures are what happened when I tried to take her picture without "permission".

Then I "gave up" and asked her to help me take some pictures of the sea shell.
Yep. I'm smarter than the average bear.

Now lets all take a moment to admire her "look". The veil and crown were from my dress up box as a little girl. And the horns? Well, they were from a stagette a few years back. Maddie rescued them from garbage yesterday.

Garbage? Yes. We have a big dumpster in our driveway. That's the trouble with no truck - you have no way to get rid of your crap. So Jason is filling it with building scraps (drywall, wood bits, etc) and I am filling it with all the crap we brought here and should have gotten rid of in Calgary. VERY liberating. And also fun to find all the stuff that's been in boxes for 2 1/2 years.

When Georgia arrived I gave Morgan 6 (?) boxes of baby clothes. I thought that was the last of it. Then last night I found FOUR more freaking boxes downstairs. SIGH. Maddie hit the lottery though b/c one box was full of 0-3 months - in other words the perfect size for her babies.

Too Quiet....

never a good sign.

We found Maddie busy in the bathroom the other day.

Then I heard:
"Mommy, my clothes are getting too wet".

(this is going down in a day or two, but couldn't resist today)

A couple of weeks ago (or was it last weekend?) Anyway, Lisa and I went on a photo walk. That's the what the purple (thistle) flower shots were all about. It was a walk that took place in about 1100 cities around the world. A chance for photographers (and wannabes like me) to get together. And excuse to go out and take some pictures. We both really enjoyed the morning and decided to try and make it a monthly event.

Well, today we invited the kids. We gave them each a camera and thought we'd see Saskatoon through their eyes.

In hindsight, a 30C day with three kids is perhaps better spent at the beach or the pool...but we had fun!

"Ok, hurry! Nobody's coming!"

"...put up your dukes"

Join us next time on Hinterland's Who's Who when we listen to champion grass whistler, Jackson, and his rendition of the Flight of the Bumble Bee.

And here's how Maddie saw the day....

Note: all pictures were taken on the way to the photowalk.
Once we got "walking" Maddie shifted her focus to convincing me to carry her.

"But I'm tired of walking, Mommy"

"Mommy, I'm warning you..."

Dear Sister Wife,
Please come and take some pictures of these flowers. This is the colour that I want.

Thank you!

Oh, and by the way, everyone. It's official. I'm a Mom.

I now have "Mom Vision". I always know what Maddie is doing, even if she's in a different room! Oh, yeah, I'm kickin' it with the Mom Night Vision Goggles...
