Family Adventure

Tomorrow we head to Golden for a week of skiing, napping, exploring, and crafting.

My priorities for the week
- ski at least the last three days so I can ski with Maddy
- find out if Golden has a thrift store and go there.
- drink a really good coffee and take in the view
- read a book, craft, nap at least 3 times.

I love watching my beagles sleep and listening to Jason play his guitar.

Double Double

That's Canadian for "we owned men's and women's curling AND hockey this Olympics". Also Canadian for "boo yah"
#gold #sochi2014 #socool

Enough of that.

Let's talk about my basement.

You know how I like things "just so" (#crazylady). It's not like I live in a constant state of "just so-ness". But I aspire to that and I'm MUCH easier to live with when Some People put their stuff away.

But the basement? Well. It's an empty concrete space. There is some entry level organization going on down there.

(Maddy Winter, Mommy Winter, Daddy Winter)

But mostly it's where stuff that really doesn't have a place goes. Or when I'm too lazy to make a place. It's that space in our house we all have: that space where things go to die.

Except the potatoes.

They have a Plan.

Rant

Don't say I didn't warn you.

And I'm doing this post from my phone so that may increase the rant and it will definatley increase how crazy I look when the auto correct kicks in.

Ready?

Ok  I'll wait.

Know what I hate? I hate "organization" books and pins and blogs that just have the same crap all the time. Over and over. Give me something new people. C'mon. Be BETTER. Wow me like the time I saw a pin where you label bread ties and put them on cords so you know which damn cord goes where. More of that please.

Don't say pedestrian crap like
"Have a place for everything"

DUH. WE ALL KNOW THAT.

That's like the pre course to getting organized. If you don't even know that part then you might as well not even start organizing.

How about just strap on a pair and say "put your shit away right away". How about some honesty. How about "if you can't pick up, give up".

Dear inter web, give me better tips. And stop hanging a super cute purse and a scarf and calling it "mudroom organization". Call me when you put everybody's stuff BACK IN THE ROOM.

big sigh.

Thanks for being there. My hand is cramping.

Night.

this should explain a lot

All credits go to Cyanide and Happinesss  and Janna for discovering this little gem.

Family Day

Family Day here today, meaning we have a day off work and school and the only agenda is to hang out together.

Although it is super warm here today (-2c) we still opted for mini golf at Market Mall. Then frozen yogurt for dessert. (We went to Crave bc it was in the mall but I prefer Chill).

And SOMEBODY got a hole in one. Guess who. That's right, it was this girl. Mmm hmmmm. I'm a natural athlete.

(they look like this b/c they're jealous of my mad mini golf skills)

Proof. I'm the teal one. Maddy uses a very effective "drag and drop" technique.

You know what I like?

The best part about the Olympics is you are supposed to watch tv constantly. Screen time is encouraged. In fact I'm pretty sure it's patriotic.

Dear IOC: thank you for the guilt free tv time.

(Or Internet streaming in my case)

Hey Kids

Guess what?!  It's Random Fact Sunday!

1. I have bangs.
2. Maddy, after taking two community ballet classes, has announced she will be a Horse Rider when she grows up.  We have had a conversation about "finishing".
3. Jason is singing "Never Ever EVER getting back together"
4. Maddy has discovered Taylor Swift.
5. I went to my first ever University of Saskatchewan Basketball game.  It was so fun to watch all the sportsing.  I want to go again, and next time I'm getting a burger and fries to complete the experience.
6. When my kitchen is clean I feel so calm.  There is order in my world.  Ahhhh.
7. Maddy invited me to a slumber party last night.  Of course there was an agenda.  Written on paper.

Slumber Party Plan
a) Pajamas (check) <pajama icon>
b) games (check) <square with a question mark inside to indicate Guess Who?>
c) movie and popcorn (check) <big screen tv>
d) Bed (check)  <bed>

8. We slept in the spare room.  ALLLL night.  But not before we had completed (and "checked") items a, b, and c.
9. My current netflix obsession is Downton Abbey.
10. I am taking a fitness class and so far I've attended 3/3 classes.  7 more to go.  I would like to add a second one during the week but I'm afraid I'll fall off the wagon completely.  Better to keep goals low.  Don't want to set that bar to high.

There.
Nighty night.  Time for a glass of wine and some Downton.
