I'm sitting in my favorite kitchen chair listening to the sweet sounds of cousins fighting. I don't really know what it sounds like when siblings fight, but I can only assume (and hope) it is similar to cousins fighting. And therefore I think of it as the sounds of love.
So anyway. Oh damn they've spotted me. And they say they're "hungry".

I'm back.
Let me tell you about yesterday. I had The Best Saturday with Randa, Luca, and Madeleine. We were Ladies About Town.
Agenda (of course there was an agenda)
Randa picked us up, we had snacks and coffee to go (b/c Thrifting is also about being Thirft-Y)
FIRST STOP
20th Street: Rose's Auction, Village Green (clothes and house), Village Green (furniture) - yes they are two different places. Then, b/c I can be spontaneous with enough warning and planning, we stopped at the Green Ark and drooled over some cool art and furniture that was just a smidge out of our budget. We also pressed our faces to the window of Co Working at the Two Twenty and imagined our lives as successful entrepreneurs who work with laptops in cool places. We did not stop at Anthology for two reasons: one I was afraid Maddy would touch something and give me a heart attack, and two it just didn't fit with the theme of the day. And I'm not that spontaneous. We had places to be. (But I'm pretty sure I need to go back there)
Stop ONE Haul List
- one fuzzy panda (I have been desperate for one for work, that reminds me, he needs to go in the dryer)
- a green tree frog for Maddy's collection (stuffed)
- Randa found a wonderful vintage copper Cake Saver and an old Fisher Price "school" toy for $10
- I found this ADORABLE print from local artist Amanda Madsen (auntie of Lakai and Denver)
HE WAS 25 CENTS - WHAT A TRAVESTY! (so of course I promptly went to Michaels to have a matte cut for him. Mat? Matte?)
Rose's I spotted this fantastic headboard:
And at $35 it's a steal of a deal and inspired by this Ethan Allen beauty:

At Rose's I also found this duck, which always hung out in my Grandma Butcher's spare room when I was a kid. Except it was brown. It's some kind of clothing brush. Think Downton Abby.
I didn't buy him, but loved him.
Then we were off to
STOP TWO
Hidden Stitch (promptly proclaimed Randa's Favorite Store in Saskatoon)
So many wonderful things there. I love that place. Plus i loved that Rikki (owner) said we had the best behaved girls. Which we did.
After HiddenStitch we were HUNGRY.
Again, being spontaneous and up for an adventure we went next door to Citizen Cafe & Bakery. It looks like nothing from the outside but inside is ADORABLE. And delicious.
Attention Moms lunching with kids - there is a nook that fits two moms and four kids with a little kid table and TOYS.

Then it was time for STOP THREE - 33rd Street Market
Randa almost bought a vintage picnic basket then remembered she really needed a chair so we held off on that.
I found this ring and fell in love. (and only you Lucky Fans will know the secret of this ring)
We went a bit further down the street to Funks Furniture and Antiques. I forgot how much I love that place. So many beautiful treasures. By now Luca was fast asleep in her stroller so Maddy sat with her at a 1950s chrome table set while Randa and I wondered around the store sipping Italian Sodas (you can get soda and coffee there).
And then, sigh, it was time to go home.
(except about 30 min after Randa pulled out of my driveway I hopped in my car and headed to Michaels to order framing for my fabulous print). And came home with a fun quick project. But you can't know about it b/c it's a suprise. Shhhh.
Although the girls were absolutely terrific and couldn't possibly have been better behaved, next time I want to take Randa to Past and Present Antique Shop. The only reason I don't want the girls is that place is SQUISHY. So, that's on the To Do list.
