Future Scrapbooker!
Maddie has been coming with me on Wednesdays (and now Thursdays) to scrapbook with the girls. The last few times she hasn't been as thrilled to sit in her car seat on the floor so I decided to quit pretending to scrapbook, which is all I do anyway, and just bring a coffee and visit. Well last time Maddie needed a diaper change. Thank goodness we were the only ones in the workshop that night b/c I'm pretty sure diaper changes on the Grommet Table are not in the "waiver" I signed. ("You will remove your non mobile infant from workshop if you cannot calm said child within minutes" I have found a loop hole for that one though: they're not really clear on if it's OK to just put her outside the workshop area while I stay inside and visit...)
ANYWAY, I changed her diaper but couldn't find the stash of poop bags (do mothers who don't have dogs call them that?) that I usually keep in my purse. It's bad to leave a diaper in a common garbage can. It's considered Rude, Inappropriate, and Gross. Especially if you're going to stay in that room for another hour and a half. Every mother knows that if you're going to Change and Dump you better get the heck out of Dodge. So I needed a bag or something to put the diaper in my purse. (what would Aggie and Kim say about that?) I searched a nearby garbage can and found an empty embellishment container shaped like a teeny tiny paint can. The perfect size for one diaper. So we stuffed the diaper in The Pail and with Jolleen's help it was attractively embellished with a lovely paper flower and secured with the Adhesive of Champions (i.e., scotch tape). And the rest is history...

you can see the "Grommet Table" just behind my coffee cup - it's really a TV tray and let me tell you it was dirty enough before Maddie's diaper ever found it.

I think that even if someone from Scrapbooker's Paradise saw your post they wouldn't really be surprised! I think that our group has gotten up to a lot worse! There is the infamous and graphic bikini wax conversation after all.
ReplyDeleteI also wanted to comment on your caridnal rule that all mother's know not to leave poop in a common garbage can. I offer evidence #001 my mother after cleaning up an extememly huge mess of Mardi's (which may or may not rank up there compared to filled diaper) thought nothing of dumping the whole schebang in the kitchen garbage can! Funny that after all of my comments wondering why if she had cleaned it the whole house still reeked she never thought to mention where she had dumped the mess:) So not all mother's know that majoy stinky mess does not get left where noses will be able to continue to smell it:)
Now I've seen everything. I now know that scrapbooking is not just a nice hobby, it is an actual way of life. Everything must be scrapbooked and pretty.

I must say, you ladies are very innovative. And I do agree with you that "most" mothers know the rule. When we were on our way back home from Shoal Lake in Sept. we stopped at The Drive Inn in Roblin. Hutton was very sick and Shel & I had to take him into the bathroom to change him(he was a mess.) Shel went to the truck to get plastic grocery bags to put the dirty diaper in as well as the dirty clothes. Once we had cleaned Hut up, Shel got a new garbage bag for the can in the bathroom and we took the whole garbage out to the garbage stand outside. I don't know about anyone else, but I know that I have come across many a dirty diaper just tossed into a garbage can not even rolled up, not to mention the ones you see on the side of the highway. Those parents should first of all be very ashamed of themselves and second of all fined big $$$!
